PA Security Guard Requirements
Pennsylvania mandates that all security guards be licensed in the state.
All applicants must petition the Pennsylvania court to obtain a security guard license. To view the Pennsylvania petition requirements in full please visit the PA Bulletin site.
Basic petition requirements.
- Must be at least 18 years old
- Must show proof of citizenship
- Mentally competent
- Good moral character
- No drug or alcohol use or dependence
- No felony convictions
- No disabilities that would prevent performance of duty
- Fingerprint affidavit and fingerprint card
- 2 Passport photos
- Letters from character witnesses referencing good moral character
- Certified proof of criminal background check
- Fingerprint card with $17.50 fee

Once a petition is approved a license fee of $200.00 will be due.
