Electrical Theory Training

ISTN's Electrical Theory training introduces the fundamental principles of electrical theory as applied to electrical circuits and devices such as transformers, inductors, and capacitors. The general topics covered in ISTN's Electrical Theory training include the nature of electricity, basic electrical quantities and their units of measurement, electrical circuits, and electromagnetism. Introducing the principles of voltage and current through a discussion of the components of an atom and their charges as well as electrostatic forces, electromotive forces, and free electrons.
Electrical Theory Training Highlights
  • Understand electrostatic force and state the Law of Electrical Charges
  • Identify how inductive reactance and capacitance each affect current and/or voltage
  • Identify the phase relationships between two AC waveforms
  • Identify the difference between induction and electromagnetic induction
  • Understand the basic operating principles of a series circuit, a parallel circuit, and a series-parallel circuit
  • Understand the simple form of Ohm's Law as it applies to voltage, current and resistance
