The phenomenon known as flashover has been the subject of many in-depth studies and scientific experiments over the past 50 plus years. Despite these noble efforts, the modern fire service is still plagued by the ever-increasing risk of this age-old beast.
FETN's Flashover training describes the specific characteristics of a flashover and the recognizable signs of an impending flashover. In addition, FETN's Flashover training examines how modern building construction and ordinary combustibles contribute to rapid fire development and potential firefighter injury.
Flashover Training Benefits
- Understand the difference between a rollover/flameover and flashover.
- Identify the limitations of using a flashover simulation chamber with respect to actual flashover events.
- Understand the proactive fire ground preparations demonstrated in this program that support firefighter survival in the event of rapidfire development.
- Identify the Point of No Return theory and how it applies to avoiding the effects of a flashover.
- Recognize tactics that may be used to reduce flashover and the consequences of this fire condition.
- Identify the duties and responsibilities of the safety engine/RIT team as it pertains to rapid-fire development.
