Firefighter Basic Training

Fatality after fatality, injury after injury, it seems the reports all say the same thing: the problem boiled down to errors in basic fire ground actions and principles. No matter how experienced, a firefighters mission always comes back to the basics. No firefighting operation can be successful without the proper, safe execution of the fundamental skills covered in Firefighter Basic training. FETN's Firefighter Basic training has over 60 courses that can build a solid foundation for new personnel and keep firefighter veterans' skills refreshed.

Firefighter Basic Training Benefits

  • Identify the five stages of fire development according to IFSTA essentials.
  • Identify proper lifting techniques and demonstrate carrying a single ladder according to the specification checklist.
  • Demonstrate effective methods and procedures to use during an emergency response to increase safety and reduce the possibility of an incident.
  • Identify the basic methods of fire scene documentation.
  • Comprehensive fire behavior review, establishing a foundation to build upon for multiple firefighting skills.
  • Understand the four dangers to the respiratory system that may be encountered when conducting a search in a fire building according to the International Fire Service Training Association.
