Fire Stream Training

FETN's Fire Stream training looks at various types of hose loads designed to move attack lines quickly from the pumper to the fire. Fire stream patterns are reviewed, along with lifesaving information on the conditions appropriate for each type of stream setting. The right nozzle setting, especially on interior attack, can mean the difference between a successful firefight and one that goes bad.

Fire Stream training introduces you to ways of calculating pressures, and how to pump some simple evolutions. Common pitfalls and errors will be illustrated to increase driver/operator efficiency on the fire ground. These techniques will make your job easier as you work to get the wet stuff on the red stuff without hurting your firefighters.

Fire Stream Training Benefits

  • Identify techniques for using an initial attack line to get the most impact upon arrival at the fire scene.
  • Identify the proper nozzle pattern for the right fire that may be encountered.
  • Identify techniques of advancing fire streams.
  • Understand the following types of pressure: atmospheric, negative, static, residual, and normal operating.
  • Understand the method for calculating friction loss/gain for heights.
